Winterize Your Home
Winterizing your home is a maintenance measure to prevent damages from frozen water pipes to your and others’ homes. Preventative maintenance tips include:
- Set your thermostat to at least 65 degrees to ensure that heat is adequately maintained throughout the unit.
- Turn off water supply at the main valve when your residence is not in use. Doing so can prevent a small water leak from turning into a major leak, which may cause thousands of dollars to repair. Ensure that renters and guests perform this step, as well.
- Leave interior doors and cabinet doors open when your residence is not in use. This will allow for proper air circulation and prevent against musty odors.
